ABOUT US

Major General Mohammad Rafiqul Islam was born on February 4th, 1953. At just 15 years old, he fought for the independence of Bangladesh in the Liberation War of 1971. He went on to dedicate his life to the Bangladesh Army, rising through the ranks until he reached the rank of Major General — a journey that began with a teenager who believed his country of Bangaldesh was worth fighting for.
He was tragically killed on March 9th, 2009 in a helicopter crash in uniform. Bangladesh lost a dedicated soldier. We lost a father.
Baba believed that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing properly. That standard applied to his service, his country, and the home he built for our family. He loved Bangladesh — its people, its craftsmanship, its potential — and he carried that pride with him everywhere he went.
The Rafiq General Store is our way of honoring that legacy. Everything we offer is sourced from Bangladesh, made by people who care, and held to a standard he would have recognized. This store is about quality, country, family, and the belief that the things we bring into our homes should mean something. We hope what you find here feels like it was made with purpose.
